The Republican Liberty Caucus of Texas is aggressively pursuing the chartering of local chapters because we’re a big state and we need activists on the ground promoting liberty, finding and supporting candidates and getting involved in local party activities all over the state. Any group can charter a local RLC chapter in an area where one does not already exist.  Chapter organization can encompass any geographical region at the approval of the state board.  Conditions are not the same in all parts of the state. In some places County chapters make sense, in others chapters may be organized by Congressional District, or an urban / metro area chapter may make sense. The way to start a chapter is to get together a group of at least 5 people who want to join the RLC and become active in their area.  The goal is to have much larger chapters, but 5 people is the minimum necessary to start a provisional chapter and be chartered officially.

The process for starting a chapter is simple.

1. Get five or more registered RLC members together. If they aren’t members yet, they can join by signing up on our website Click Here to Join.
2. Download these materials Local Chapter Application Form, Statement of Principles, and the Local Chapter Bylaws – Sample
3. Hold a meeting with your 5 (or more members).
   1. Read over, understand and sign the Statement of Principles and the Local Chapter Bylaws.
   2. Elect provisional officers consisting of at least a Chairman, Vice-Chairman and a Secretary/Treasurer, though you may have more officers.
   3. Fill out the Local Chapter Application Form completely. 
4. After your meeting fill out the Online Local Chapter Application Form and submit all these materials to the Chartering Committee for review.

 It is recommended that all new members read and agree to the Liberty Compact as stated below:

“I pledge that I will work to: restore liberty, not restrict it; shrink government, not expand it; reduce taxes, not raise them; abolish programs, not create them; promote the freedom and independence of citizens, not the interference of government in their lives; and observe the limited, enumerated powers of our Constitution, not ignore them.”
